On April 29, 2010, the State Intellectual Property Office of China published the White Paper on the Intellectual Property Rights Protection in 2009, giving a comprehensive introduction to the achievements and status quo of intellectual property rights protection in China in 2009.
It was pointed out in the White Paper that 2009 was a key year for the overall start and fulfillment of the National Intellectual Property Protection Strategy. With economic construction as the core task, the Chinese government has obtained preliminary achievements in the efforts to survive the worldwide finance crisis and implement the national intellectual property protection strategy. Specifically, new progress was made in the legislation for intellectual property protection, which further made the structure of intellectual property protection more rationalized; different proceedure breakthroughs paved the way for the improvement of professional capacity of intellectual property examination and registration; the cooperation among related sectors facilitated the advance of administrative enforcement of intellectual property rights; and the judicial enforcement became the main channel for intellectual proprety protection.
The White Paper gives a birds-eye view to the development of intellectual property rights in China in 2009.
